Remote gate control module

A research and development project regarding the possibility of automated garage door opening without the use of a remote.

The Challenge of Project

We created a Bluetooth Low Energy module with range increased to 100 meters. The module enables communication with gate wirelessly or through 433 MHz radio (as in a standard remote). A smartphone features an installed application, which operates based on a location. When user approach the door, it connects to the GateKeeper device which sends a command for opening it.

The Result

As a result of tests conducted with the use of prototypes, we were able to create a solution that enabled automated opening of a garage door when car approached it. Within the scope of completed research and development work, we have diagnosed problems related to combability of devices, precision and range of a GPS, as well as range and stability of BLE signal.
